Once again, Cynthia Eden weaves one hell of a "whodunnit" story stuffed full of action and intrigue. I've yet to read a predictable book by this phenomenal author. Each villain has a different agenda, but obsession seems to rule, and this villain was no exception.

Jon Moretti started off as Montagna family consigliere but after his bosses demise he was appointed the kingpin of the Montagna mafia family. When he discovers the theft of not only diamonds but other important items he is determined to find the person responsible. What he never expected was it to be a woman. He has strict rules on not killing women and children so instead he punishes her in front of his men to set an example by stripping, spanking, humilation and sex to gain information. She is constantly changing jobs, cities, and on the run from her past. After losing her sister Sara- who worked for Trace, she finds herself on the run again. While at her sister's funeral, Noah told Claire that he owed her after they both were victims in the plot to hurt Skye and Trace. Claire finally finds herself needing to turn in that favor and asks Noah for a job. She has been pushed as far as she can be pushed, she is almost out of money and needs to beg Noah for help.

They’re functional and honest about it, they don’t play games or mess around. They’re both feeling it, they’re open about it, and they go all in, exploring their mad lust for each other in a wildly passionate sex-fest that is absolutely sizzling. This is my first book by this author. I haven't read the first book in this series but I was able to understand what was going on for the most part. She was staring into his eyes when he came, and Claire actually saw his gaze go blind with pleasure.

All I can really say is read this series. It's full of twists and turns and like I said hot, possessive alpha men, and lots of dangerous situations, which are before my fave kind of reads. Drake's story is next I believe and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!

Noah York is much more than the rich hotel owner. He was a solider, a contracted missionary, a killer. But when he met Claire in Chicago months before he knew there was something about her that made him want to protect her. He saw a darkness in her that although was not as bleak as his own, it was there. Noah is a man in control, he needs it to be sure that he can remain calm. But when Claire is in danger, he is on the verge of losing it and when a man like Noah loses his control shatters and the man he used to be may not be able to be restrained. Everything he wants is within his reach, but all of it could be taken away in a moment.
