About this deal

I would recommend the book to anyone starting their journey in the workforce as it is a good starting point with sound practical advise. Doorheen haar reis toont Beth aan de lezer dat het best oké is om niet te hard of te streng te zijn voor jezelf en weet ze het verhaal luchtig te maken met haar gevoel voor humor. This is the first novel from Sarah Turner, famous for her Unmumsy Mum blog and books, and I couldnt put it down!

Stepping Up: How to accelerate your leadership potential Stepping Up: How to accelerate your leadership potential

Sarah Turner is er met haar fijne en toegankelijke schrijfstijl niet alleen in geslaagd dat je als lezer met Beth gaat meeleven, maar je kruipt als het ware ook echt in dit verhaal. An unspeakable tragedy turns Beth’s life upside down, and she finds herself guardian to her teenage niece and toddler nephew, catapulted into an unfamiliar world of bedtime stories, parents’ evenings and cuddly elephants. Overnight Beth becomes guardian for her teenage niece and toddler nephew and her own mother is hellbent on reminding her of her own shortcomings. It's not that she hasn't tried to grow up, it's just that so far, the only commitment she's held down is Friday drinks at the village pub.I finished it, but didn’t want to finish it, I fell in love with all the characters, the humour and heartbreak. The way their connection develops and goes from breaking point to a true sense of connection is wonderful. I loved the characters in this book and felt so invested in them and the story - it made me both laugh and cry. It's finding the self-discipline, wherewithal and support/accountability from other men to do so rather than living an extended adolescence that is the challenge. He counsels focusing on what matters, challenging your internal assumptions and find one thing, anything, that you can do immediately to address how you may have contributed to the problem.

Stepping Up by Sarah Turner | Goodreads

Stepping Up is the debut novel by Sarah Turner, known for her blog The Unmumsy Mum and her best-selling non-fiction books, The Unmumsy Mum, The Unmumsy Mum Diary and The Unmumsy Mum A-Z. Whilst I could see how certain aspects were going to play out it was the reactions that I enjoyed the most. I was incredibly invested in her journey and was left a blubbering mess at the end (and many times throughout). I have read a lot of this genre in recent months and this debut stands head and shoulders above many. Most cries of pain from teenagers are silent, and too often we only discover the true depth of their pain after suicide or other self-destructive behavior. There are no extraordinary people, only ordinary people who do extraordinary things – Mother Teresa. The integration of life style and choices are applicable to our personal lives and our day to day work with colleagues.

Stepping Up: the joyful and emotional Sunday Times bestseller

However, it is the sort of movie/tv show I would watch, so I was ecstatic to be given the chance to read this, and I loved it! He talks about strategies encouraging large change and small change - yet some of the skills are very similar. Ik genoot ervan, leefde mee en pinkte hier en daar bijna een traantje weg door het realisme dat van de pagina's spatte. If you are a man who wishes to reach his God-given potential as a man even in the midst of the emasculating culture, then you need to read this book.It is a story about digging deep for strength you never knew you had, and finding magic in the little things that were there all along.
